About Bedrock Robotics

Bedrock Robotics builds autonomy for heavy construction equipment. Its Bedrock Operator is a retrofit kit — lidar, GPS, high-definition cameras, onboard compute and AI software — that is installed on a contractor’s existing excavators, bulldozers and loaders in about a day, with no permanent modification, so machines customers already own can work autonomously around crews and other equipment on live job sites. The company was founded in San Francisco in 2024 by engineers from the self-driving vehicle industry and came out of stealth in July 2025 with $80 million in seed and Series A funding. It progressed quickly from supervised operation to fully autonomous work: in August 2026 the company announced that Bedrock-equipped excavators were performing paid, fully autonomous excavation on live commercial sites, including a Nevada water-treatment facility, a large Texas earthwork project and a 1.2 million cubic yard civil sitework project (company-stated).

Fleet software gives contractors insight from tens of thousands of field hours and is designed to let equipped machines coordinate tasks across a site. A $600 million Series C in October 2026, at a $4.1 billion valuation, brought total funding to nearly $1 billion (company announcement) to scale deployments across US construction sites.
