How We Work

Methodology

How our tools calculate, where their data comes from, which figures are estimates, and how to tell us when something looks wrong.

GlobleMatch's tools run entirely in your browser and work from built-in datasets — they make no live data calls. This page explains, tool by tool, how each result is produced, what it is based on, and where its limits are.

How our tools calculate

  • Time Zone Planner. Converts times between cities using your browser's built-in time-zone database (the international time-zone data behind the Intl API), with daylight-saving changes applied automatically. Overlap windows assume people are typically awake from 8 AM to 11 PM.
  • Travel Budget Calculator. Multiplies typical average daily costs for the destination — lodging, food, and local transport, set by travel style — by your trip length and number of travellers, adds a rough flight estimate, and adds a buffer of 10–15% for unexpected costs.
  • Compatibility Quiz. A fixed set of reflective questions, scored from the answers you give. It is a conversation aid, not a scientific or psychological assessment.
  • Country Comparison Tool. Compares two countries using a built-in dataset compiled from general cultural and travel knowledge. Cost levels in it are categories (low, medium, high), not measured prices.
  • Language Helper. Essential phrases with approximate English-phonetic pronunciations, intended as a starting point for practice.
  • Conversation Starter Generator. Draws at random from fixed sets of conversation starters written for this site; it does not generate text with an AI model.

Data sources

Each tool's data lives inside the tool itself: time-zone data comes from your browser, and the cost, culture, and phrase datasets are compiled from widely recognized cultural references, travel guidance, and language-learning resources — the same source types described in our Editorial Policy. No tool queries a live external feed or API.

How often things are updated

Every content page shows its own last-updated date, and a tool's dataset is reviewed whenever the page that contains it is updated. We do not publish on a fixed schedule, and we never stamp a page with an update date it did not earn.

Estimates and example figures

Travel budget figures are estimates built from typical 2024–2025 average costs, and the flight figures are rough estimates; actual prices vary by season, city, exchange rate, and booking timing. Country-comparison cost levels are categories, not quotes. Quiz results reflect the answers given — they are not measurements of a relationship. Our Disclaimer covers tool estimates in more detail.

Limitations

  • Customs and etiquette vary by region, generation, and individual. Our guides describe common patterns, not rules that apply to everyone.
  • Time-zone results depend on the time-zone data in your browser; an out-of-date browser can mishandle a recent daylight-saving rule change.
  • Pronunciations are approximations in English spelling; they cannot capture tones or sounds that English does not have.
  • A budget estimate cannot know the hotel, flight, or exchange rate you will actually book.

Reporting an error

If a calculation, figure, or description looks wrong, tell us through our contact page. We review every report, correct verified errors promptly, and note significant corrections on the page — the same corrections process described in our Editorial Policy.
