Vanderlande is a Dutch logistic process automation company, part of Toyota Industries Corporation, whose systems move baggage and parcels at much of the world’s transport infrastructure. In airports it supplies the full baggage chain — check-in and bag drop, security screening lanes, transport, storage, sortation, flight make-up and reclaim — and states that its systems handle more than 4 billion bags a year across more than 600 airports, including 17 of the world’s top 20 (company-stated). In the parcel sector it builds high-throughput sortation depots for the major carriers, stating that its systems sort more than 52 million parcels every day (company-stated). The company combines its mechanical systems with intelligent software and life-cycle services, and develops hardware and software in-house with an R&D department of around 900 people.

Founded in Veghel in 1949 as a family machinery business, it grew into a global integrator and was acquired by Toyota Industries in 2017. A recent group reorganisation has folded its warehousing business into the Toyota Automated Logistics (TAL) brand alongside Bastian Solutions and viastore, while Vanderlande itself continues as the group’s airports and parcel brand. For partners, Vanderlande is the reference integrator for very large, mission-critical baggage and parcel systems where throughput guarantees and decades-long service support matter more than unit equipment sales.
