About Relay Robotics

Relay Robotics supplies autonomous indoor delivery robots that carry items around hotels, hospitals and commercial buildings so staff do not have to. Its Relay robots navigate lobbies, corridors and elevators on their own — elevators are configured at installation so a robot can call one, ride it and complete a delivery without human help — and carry a secure, roughly 10-gallon compartment with interchangeable bins for room-service orders, amenities and packages in hotels, and for medications, lab samples and supplies in hospitals, where authentication options provide a verifiable chain of custody for sensitive deliveries. The company in its current form dates to May 2022, when Relay Robotics, Inc.

was formed around the acquisition of Savioke, the San Jose company that had created the Relay robot in 2013, and closed a $10 million Series A at the same time; a configurable second model, Relay+, joined the original Relay in the line-up. The company states that its robots have completed more than one million deliveries, and its announcements name deployments at hotel groups including Marriott, Hilton, Westin, Mandarin Oriental, Holiday Inn and Radisson and at hospitals including Georgetown and Dartmouth. Robots return to their charging docks automatically between deliveries, and fleet software shows live delivery status and history to operators.
