About Kraken Robotics

Kraken Robotics Inc. is a Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador marine-technology company that supplies the sensing, power and robotic systems that uncrewed underwater vehicles run on. Founded in 2012 as Kraken Sonar, it built its name on the AquaPix miniature interferometric synthetic aperture sonar (MINSAS), which images the seabed at centimetre resolution from AUVs and towed platforms; its KATFISH remotely operated towed vehicle carries that sonar at survey speeds up to 10 knots for mine countermeasures, route surveys and infrastructure inspection. SeaPower pressure-tolerant lithium-ion batteries have become a second pillar, supplying power systems integrated on more than 30 AUV platforms worldwide (company-stated), alongside the SeaVision 3D laser scanner, autonomous launch and recovery systems and, through its PanGeo subsidiary, Sub-Bottom Imager survey services.

In July 2026 Kraken closed the approximately $615 million acquisition of the UK-based Covelya Group, adding the Sonardyne (subsea navigation and positioning), EIVA (survey software), Forcys (naval systems), Voyis (underwater imaging) and Chelsea Technologies (environmental sensing) businesses and turning Kraken into a broader subsea-intelligence group. Customers are concentrated in naval defence, offshore energy and ocean science, supported from offices in North America, South America and Europe.
