Formant provides a cloud software platform for operating robots in production: it is the operations and data layer that sits on top of deployed fleets rather than a robot maker. The platform covers fleet management across mixed vendors, teleoperation and remote assistance, data ingestion and management, observability and performance analytics, mission control and incident resolution, and customer-facing data portals, and in 2025 the company launched F3, an AI-native version of the platform that adds generative-AI querying and agentic reasoning over fleet data. Formant says its telemetry spans hundreds of production organisations, and named enterprise users in its materials include industrial and energy companies running robots at scale.

The company is headquartered in San Francisco and was founded in 2017, originally under the name Archimedes Robotics. Formant should not be confused with Foxglove, which is also listed in this directory: Foxglove is a developer-side tool for visualising and debugging robotics data during development, whereas Formant is aimed at operations teams running commercial fleets day to day.
