About Demcon

Demcon is a Dutch high-tech engineering group that develops, manufactures and supplies complex mechatronic systems and products, working as a contract R&D and production partner from first concept through to series manufacturing. Founded in 1993 in Enschede as a spin-off from the University of Twente, the privately held group has grown to about 850 employees across locations in the Netherlands (Enschede, Best, Delft, Groningen and Maastricht), Germany (Münster), Japan (Tokyo) and Singapore. Its core discipline is mechatronics — the integration of mechanical, electrical and software engineering with robotics, optics, data science and machine learning. Robotics and automation run through much of its work: Demcon develops logistics automation systems, medical and care robots (including a social robot that keeps patients company), and unmanned systems through its Demcon unmanned systems unit, which builds unmanned surface vessels and aerial systems for inspection and maritime applications.

Other group activities include high-tech systems for the semiconductor, quantum and photonics industries, electronics development, and thin-film deposition equipment. Demcon targets societal and industrial challenges in aerospace, agri & food, defence & security, energy, life sciences & health, smart industry and water & maritime markets, typically entering projects at low technology-readiness levels and industrialising them into manufacturable products.
