About Piab

Piab is a Swedish vacuum automation company whose gripping, lifting and moving technology is a staple of robot cells and automated production lines worldwide. Founded in 1951, the company built its modern business from the late 1960s around vacuum technology, pioneering multistage vacuum ejectors based on its COAX technology and expanding into vacuum pumps, suction cups, vacuum conveyors and complete gripping systems. For robotics, Piab supplies end-of-arm vacuum grippers, configurable suction-cup systems and soft gripping solutions that let robots and cobots handle products ranging from automotive parts and packaged food to pharmaceutical items and e-commerce parcels, alongside vacuum conveying equipment that moves powders and bulk materials through production processes.

The official site describes a portfolio spanning vacuum automation, ergonomic handling and robotic gripping, organised within Piab Group’s Vacuum Automation, Lifting Automation, Vacuum Conveying and China divisions and sold through subsidiaries and channel partners. Piab Group states, in its official news material, sales of about SEK 2.5 billion, more than 1,000 employees and customers in more than 100 countries, all company-stated figures. Since 2018 Piab has been owned by Patricia Industries, part of Investor AB, and it continues to operate under the Piab brand as the group’s flagship vacuum technology business.
