About Omron
Omron’s robot business sits inside its Industrial Automation Business, the group’s largest segment, and sells one of the broadest robot ranges of any single automation vendor. Omron entered robotics at scale by acquiring US robot maker Adept Technology in October 2015, and now fields four robot families under its own brand: eCobra SCARA robots, Viper six-axis articulated robots, parallel (delta) robots for high-speed picking, and the TM series of collaborative robots offered with Techman Robot. Alongside the arms, Omron sells autonomous mobile robots in the LD, MD and HD series — descendants of Adept’s mobile platforms — which move payloads from 60 kg to 1,500 kg around factories and warehouses, managed by fleet software.
The strategic point of the range is integration with the rest of Omron’s catalogue: the robots are programmed and controlled through the Sysmac automation platform together with Omron PLCs, machine vision, safety and motion products, so one vendor supplies a complete cell. Omron Robotics and Safety Technologies in Pleasanton, California is the group’s robotics arm in the Americas. For partners, Omron is most relevant where fixed robots, mobile robots and machine control are wanted from a single supplier with global support.
