About Momentis Surgical

Momentis Surgical Ltd. is an Israeli surgical robotics company founded in 2013 as Memic Innovative Surgery, developing robots whose miniature arms imitate the human arm — with shoulder, elbow and wrist joints — rather than the straight instruments of conventional surgical robots. Its Anovo™ Surgical System (originally launched as the Hominis® Surgical System) is a small, portable platform for robotic-assisted transvaginal surgery: it received FDA de novo marketing authorisation in February 2021 for benign transvaginal procedures such as hysterectomy, salpingectomy, oophorectomy and ovarian cyst removal, and the company describes it as the first and only FDA-authorised surgical robot with humanoid-shaped arms.

First U.S. patient procedures took place in 2022 at Florida hospitals, and further 510(k) clearances have since added a second-generation system, single-site abdominal access for ventral hernia repair (2024) and a multiport configuration. The company’s history includes a planned SPAC merger with MedTech Acquisition Corp. that was agreed in 2021 and terminated by mutual decision in 2022, leaving Momentis privately held; in July 2022 Memic rebranded as Momentis Surgical and Hominis became Anovo. The company is based in Israel (Or Yehuda, in the Tel Aviv district) with a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Momentis Surgical Inc., in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and sells into U.S. hospital systems.
