L3Harris Technologies is a United States defense technology group whose ground robotics business builds the T7 and T4 multi-mission robotic systems used for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and hazardous-duty work.
About L3Harris
L3Harris Technologies is a United States defense technology group whose ground robotics business builds the T7 and T4 multi-mission robotic systems used for explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and hazardous-duty work. The large T7 is a tracked unmanned ground vehicle of about 322 kg with a high-strength manipulator, force-sensing gripper and a haptic controller that gives the operator force feedback for delicate tasks such as neutralising improvised explosive devices and vehicle-borne threats. The medium T4 offers similar control in a smaller, more portable package, and the two platforms share a common controller and parts to simplify training and support. L3Harris states that its haptic control reduces operator workload and task completion times compared with conventional controls.
The systems are in service with military forces in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia: the U.S. Air Force ordered more than 100 T7 robots in 2021, the Australian Defence Force took delivery of T4 and T7 systems under a 2023 contract, and in January 2026 the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps selected 34 T7 robots under a multi-year award. Beyond EOD, the robots are applied to hazardous materials response, route clearance, and intelligence and surveillance tasks. For partners, L3Harris is a prime-contractor source of field-proven EOD ground robots with training and through-life support included in its contracts.
